Nathan Eovaldi takes the ball against former Yankee prospect Ian Kennedy as Mark Teixeira return to the lineup after some time off with a stiff neck. Jacoby Ellsbury, meanwhile, won't be back for another few days as he continues to test his hip injury.
Earlier today, the team announced that they had optioned outfielder Ben Gamel in favor of left-handed reliever Tyler Olson. Considering the Yankees are now playing with two outfielders, Carlos Beltran, and whatever you consider Dustin Ackley to be at this point, the move doesn't make a lot of sense if Ellsbury isn't coming back. If only they had some way of taking Ellsbury off the active roster so Gamel could stay...
