Before getting into discussing the game, I just wanted to make a quick announcement on behalf of Pinstripe Alley, Greg, and myself. We're going to be making some slight changes at the blog, as a result of which today's Comments of the Day post will actually be our final open thread (hence the name of today's post). Just because the comments won't be displayed in a post doesn't mean we should stop making those wonderful puns to make our comments blue'd. Also, we're considering adding the fun questions and the song of the day to the news post, so some elements of the COTD will still be around. Anyway, I just wanted to let y'all know so you have a chance today to give it a proper goodbye. Let's talk about the game now.
It was awful. And I'm done here.
Comments of the Day
After yesterday's game, this is the only thing that was worthy of a COTD.
GIF of the Day
A comment on the Yankees' current state and a goodbye to the COTD post.
Honorable Mod Mention
A shout-out to all the mods for today's final HMM.
Fun Questions
- Write a haiku saying goodbye to the COTD post.
- Are you going to miss the open thread?
Song of the Day
The Final Countdown by Europe
It's Nostalgia Week on Pinstripe Alley. This week we'll be looking at songs that make us nostalgic for the better days when the Yankees didn't break your heart on a daily basis. Today's song always brings me back to my high school days when for some reason we'd reference this song way more than we should. Plus after today's post title, I hope you didn't expect any other song. As always, please link us your song of the day.
Feel free to use this as your open thread for the day. Nathan Eovaldi will take on David Price and the Red Sox tonight at 8pm. Hopefully Nate will be nasty enough to prevent the Yankees from getting swept (I've said sentences similar to this way too often so far this season). To make matters worse, tonight's game is a Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN game because of course it is. Ugh.
