The Yankees will face the Boston Red Sox for the first time this season. The Red Sox will have top pitching prospect Henry Owens on the bump for this first game of a three-game set at Fenway Park.
Owens got 11 starts last year and recorded a 94 ERA+, but he started the season at Triple-A to work on some things. He had one start in the majors this year against the Astros, and he allowed three earned runs over 3.1 innings. Masahiro Tanaka will be on the mound for the Yankees, and he'll hope to continue his success as he's had a 76 ERA- and 76 FIP- in four starts this season.
Both teams will have their best lineups out there, as they should. Alex Rodriguez looks like he's healthy as his nice performance against Texas on Wednesday combined with the day off should make people a little more comfortable with him in the fifth spot. Now would be a great time for the bats to wake up.
Go Yankees, boo Red Sox, go baseball.
