Yesterday was an off day. Off days are the worst. Usually, however, off days are bad for just the fans who want to see baseball and miss it, but good for the players as they get to rest and recover. Unfortunately this was one of the times that the day off was bad for both fans and the players. With all these days off early in the year, the second half of the season is sure to be a grind, but hey at least they'll be fresh now. At least they're back at it tonight.
Even though the Yankees lost the series against Seattle, they did manage to avoid getting swept, and it looks like they still were able to have fun throughout the weekend.
The @Yankees @DBetances68 & @AROD had some fun with @RobinsonCano over the weekend.https://t.co/hGj7JJUqch

Even though he gets booed for absolutely ridiculous reasons at Yankee Stadium, at least the Yankee players don't seem to be holding a grudge against Cano. Miss you, Robbie. Although A-Rod was one of the players talking to Cano, so I'm pretty sure people will start a narrative as soon as humanly possible.
With the day off for the Yankees at least there was some exciting news out of Scranton:
Nick Swisher homers for the first time in a RailRider uniform. 416-foot shot to right field. Jumped on Hutchison's first pitch.

Sources haven't confirmed, but I'm sure it was quite Swishalicious. Unfortunately that's all I got before I got distracted by the following image:
Now picture Baby-Rod growing up this way and tell me you're not laughing.

Sorry I didn't get any work today. Someone sent me this GIF & 8 hours later, I'm still watching. (via @mlkshk) pic.twitter.com/VgdQihyBp9
Thanks for sharing this after I left work Greg, could have been very bad.
Honorable Mod Mention
Jason H. wins the HMM for his look into Brian McCann's defense and how he could potentially be even better.
Fun Questions
- Is it "okay" for a hitter to break up a no-hitter with a bunt?
- Which of these "unwritten rules" is the most ridiculous?
Song of the Day
Beautiful by Eminem
It's DOOM Week on Pinstripe Alley. The Yankees may have won their most recent game and there may still be 151 games left but you're in denial if you don't think this lyric was written about anything other than the Yankees: "I'm just so buntin'* depressed, I just can't seem to get out this slump." Thought so. As always, please link us your song of the day.
The Yankees will send Michael Pineda to the mound against the Oakland A's tonight at 7pm. Let's hope Mothers' Day 2015 Pineda shows up and delivers a gem and starts a string of good starting pitching for the team. Although I guess Tanaka technically would've started it, but I don't think Pineda can really "continue" the string if there's only been one game so far. My head hurts now.
*buntin' is not the original word used in the song.
