Around the Empire
New York Daily News | Mark Feinsand: Aroldis Chapman will be a New York Yankee again. Chapman agreed to a five-year, $86 million dollar deal with the Yankees because why wouldn’t a relief pitcher agree to that kind of ridiculous deal? It will also include a full no-trade clause for the first three years and an opt-out after the third year. More on this as it develops.
New York Daily News | Mark Feinsand: The Baltimore Orioles are reportedly interested in Brett Gardner, Yankee outfielder and glorious man of the grit and the gut. Of course, they have to make sure their fans like Gardner since that’s apparently an actual consideration now. Neat. Buck Showalter claimed that the Yankees wouldn’t deal with them. Cashman refuted, saying they’ll deal with anyone if it’s a good deal. Gardner for Machado & Britton sounds like a good deal to me.
New York Daily News | Mark Feinsand: Celebrate! The Yankees have officially taken a Holliday. All puns aside, Matt Holliday officially became a New York Yankee yesterday. Holliday will primarily DH for the Bronx Bombers, but he will also serve as a backup 1B/OF. Holliday now has to decide on a number. Good luck.
New York Daily News | Christian Red: Derek Jeter was in town yesterday to surprise a bunch of kids at Chelsea Piers. His Turn 2 Kids foundation got a special surprise when both he and Santa Claus, who also does it his way, handed out presents to the kids there. Click on this link and watch the video. Oh, and he also said that George Steinbrenner should be in the Hall of Fame.
- What number should Matt Holliday pick?
- Have you put up your X-Mas lights yet?
Song of the Day
Snowman from Super Smash Bros Brawl
It’s Winter Meetings Week on Pinstripe Alley. Waiting is the worst. Waiting to see what the Yankees do can be challenging. So why not play some Super Smash Bros while we wait? This track is originally from Mother 3, but that has yet to be ported over to the US. Don’t wait for that either. As always, please link us your song of the day.
