The Yankees inked a deal with their new DH over the weekend, signing Matt Holliday to a one-year deal worth $13 million. The former Cardinal hit 20 home runs last year, which should help New York make up for the power lost after trading Brian McCann to the Astros last month.
While Holliday could still play the field in a pinch, it's not going to be a regular occurrence. That should allow him to stay healthy and focus on his offense. Should the Yankees need an emergency fill in at first base or in the outfield, though, Holliday could provide that in a way that, say, Alex Rodriguez couldn't in his role as the DH.
How do you feel about the Yankees' decision to go with Holliday for their DH? Do you think it was money well spent, or should they have looked for a different alternative elsewhere to fill that spot?
