Girardi thinks Gleyber is good; Swanson could be a Jeter and Torres is the top SS prospect in baseball; Cashman won’t sell farm for short gain

Around the Empire

New York Daily News | Mike Mazzeo: Add one more person to the list of Gleyber Torres fans. Joe Girardi thinks that the Arizona Fall League MVP’s performance bodes really well for the Yankees and he says that the organization has been excited about him since they acquired him in July.

MLB Pipeline | Jim Callis: Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson has often been compared 2 Derek Jeter. Mainly because like Jeter, Swanson should hit for high average with moderate power with a decent amount of walks while still being able to swipe bags consistently. Callis also goes on to say that Gleyber Torres is the top shortstop prospect in baseball.

New York Daily News | Mike Mazzeo: The Yankees are not going to sacrifice their top prospects in exchange for “short-term gains.” Obviously Brian Cashman is looking to improve the team in anyway he can, especially in the rotation. If he and another team match up on a good trade he won’t hesitate to pull the trigger, but that doesn’t mean he’s just going to go around using the farm system he delicately built as trade bait either.

Song of the Day

3 Things by Jason Mraz

It’s New Beginnings Week on Pinstripe Alley. If I’m being honest, I just Google’d “songs about new beginnings” and picked the first song I saw. So yeah, let me know if it’s good or not. As always, please link us your song of the day.
