Around the Empire

Newsday: The Yankees released a portion of their promotional schedule for 2017. If you weren’t excited to go to the ballgame before, well then, let me tell you about the promotions. There will be respective Gary Sanchez and Reggie Jackson bobblehead days. On June 10th, young fans with get a plastic bat and ball. On June 11th, it’s officially Bat Day for the youts. Tough decisions to be made here.

Newsday: If their riveting promo schedule didn’t get you excited about going to watch the 2017 season live, then perhaps news of their Sunday Night Baseball schedule will pump you up a bit more. They are on SNB four times in the first few months. Yankees vs. Cardinals will be a thing in early April. Then the Yankees will be at Wrigley on May 7th, so that screams SNB. The very next weekend, for Mother’s Day Jeter’s number retirement, they’ll be on SNB. Obviously it would be disre2pectful for it not to be. I shouldn’t have to tell you the final SNB game of that stretch, or who the Yankees will be playing.

Pinstriped Prospects | Gershon Rabinowitz: Austin DeCarr has had a rough start to his young pinstriped career. DeCarr was sidelined for over a year due to Tommy John Surgery recovery. If he stays healthy, 2017 will be the first full year he will have pitched since being drafted in 2014. Since he had the TJS, the Yankees should just put him in the starting rotation as is. What could go wrong?

CBS Miami: Alex Rodriguez is good. Yesterday, A-Rod held his annual holiday party at the Boys and Girls Club of Miami-Dade’s Ocean Bank Teen Center. Of course, this party was held at the Alex Rodriguez Educational Center building. A-Rod loves giving back to the Hank Kline Club he was apart of. Always a nice story to hear.
