Around the Empire
New York Daily News | Mark Feinsand: The Yankees have inched a bit closer to their 2017 Championship. Yesterday, they signed former Mets infielder Ruben Tejada to a minor-league deal. Tejada will have an invitation to the big-league camp to potentially compete with Torreyes and Refsnyder for the backup infielder job. It’s all falling into place, ladies and gentlemen.
New York Post | George A. King III: Brian Cashman has stated that he wants to bolster the bullpen. After signing Chapman, it has been bolstered. It still could use a little more bolstering to make it truly bolsterous. The Tigers are reportedly shopping former Yankee legend Justin Wilson. Perhaps a trade could be made. Judging by what they want for Wilson, perhaps not.
NJ.com | Joe Giglio: The Yankees are going to have some tough competition to make it back to the playoffs in 2017. Meanwhile, there’s still the overall goal of rebuilding and Plan CoCoYo. This articles lists six things the Yankees can try and do to possibly achieve both goals. One of those things does not make me happy. You can guess which.
AP | Ronald Blum: The tradition of rookie hazing is about to undergo a bit of a change. While superhero costumes will still be acceptable, dressing up rookies like woman is over and done with. The deal was agreed upon by both MLB and the player’s union. While some players and rookies don’t have a real problem with it, others felt that it was time for it to go.
