Around the Empire
Newsday | Erik Boland: Looking back on this year and what the Yankees did and didn’t do, it’s clear that Yankees do have somewhat of a plan. That plan is cost-controlled youth. They have refused to trade any major prospects, sign any older player to a long term deal, and are now ready to start building around said prospects. Only time will tell whether Plan CoCoYo will succeed or not. At least we’ve got a replacement plan for Plan 189.
MLB.com | Phil Rogers: Brian Cashman traded virtually nothing to get Aroldis Chapman for obvious reasons. Then he traded him and the Yankees received their new #1 prospect in Gleyber Torres. Now the Yankees have him back. Cashman restocked the farm and got back a high caliber closer in the span of one year. From a purely baseball perspective, that’s not too shabby. On the other hand, fire Cashman because fire Cashman. Right? Right!
New York Daily News | John Harper: The winter meetings have come and gone and we’re still seeing where teams are currently at and what else they need. Still, there’s no reason not to examine what transpired. This article takes a look at Harper’s Top Ten takeaways from the winter meetings. Yes, the Yankees are in there.
New York Daily News | Andy Clayton: In more adorable news, Derek Jeter’s nephew Jalen Jeter did things his own way by reading the Daily News. There’s a video of this and it’s adorable. Jalen, who quite possibly might be doing it Jeter’s way, mentions that Holliday still has to pick a number. He’s not wrong.

Song of the Day
Gaston from Beauty and the Best
It’s “The Best” Week on Pinstripe Alley. Since it’s one of the best weeks of the year, we thought we’d celebrate with songs about being the best. Of course, no one gloats like Gaston, gives us quotes like Gaston. For starting this, nothing promotes like Gaston. As always, please link us your song of the day.
