Around the Empire
MiLB.com | John Parker: If you followed our Baby Bombers articles/recaps this season, you probably know that the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders had an incredible year. They won 91 games, the most in the minors, and they won both the Governor’s Cup and the Triple-A National Championship. Their accomplishments have been recognized and they were named MiLB’s Best Team of 2016. The Yankees’ farm system looks pretty promising. Yay.
New York Post | George A. King III: Brian Cashman is looking to add pitching this offseason. To be fair, he’s probably looking to do this every offseason. Their scouts will have their eye on former Royals closer Greg Holland when he throws a workout session in Arizona tomorrow. Coming off of TJS, Holland could come cheaper than a Jansen or Chapman. He would also allow for many a Holland Tunnel pun.
New York Daily News | Anthony McCarron: The market is officially open tomorrow. The free agent market that is. You’ll notice that Aisle 2, the starting pitching aisle, is “only potato bread left due to really bad weather” barren at the moment. Despite that, here are some of the 25 best available players, as well as some potato bread left in the mix. Yes, that is what I will be calling this crop of FA starting pitching from now on.
Fun Questions
- Which of those 25 players in the last article appeals to you the most/least?
- Potato Bread: Yummy or I’d rather starve?
