Around the Empire

New York Post | George A. King III: In today’s “time to feel a bit older” segment of the morning news, the Hall of Fame ballot surfaced yesterday. Former Yankee catcher and primary receiver of the infamous Pettitte Stare, Jorge Posada, is on the ballot for the first time. He will have some competition to get in. Ivan Rodriguez, Vladimir Guerrero, and Manny Ramirez are also on the ballot for the first time. Good luck with that, Jorge.

Newsday | Anthony Rieber: Speaking of former Yankee catchers, Brian McCann spoke with WFAN yesterday about his decision to waive his NTC to go to Houston. McCann, possibly a first time caller/long time listener, knew the direction the Yankees were heading in. As many suspected, McCann still wants to catch every day. That was not happening on the Yankees. Good luck with the Astros, H2Bro.

New York Daily News | Mark Feinsand: With Brian McCann headed to Minute Maid Park, the Yankees have some money to spend. Brian Cashman has stated that he’d like to add a big bat. With the biggest of bats like Edwin Encarnacion and Yoenis Cespedes wanting years in addition to money, it might behoove the Yankees to go after Mike Napoli. He could potentially be signed for only 2 years and he could provide backup for Greg Bird at first base. It’d certainly stop him from hitting home runs against us.

NJ.com | Joe Giglio: The youth movement is underway. Mark Teixeira, Alex Rodriguez, and Brian McCann will not be on the 2017 roster. It is rumored, repeat rumored, that the Yankees may try and move CC Sabathia this offseason. CC had a comeback season last year and showed signs that he’s figured his new mechanics out. Still, I’d take this with a grain of salt.
