Around the Empire
YES Network | Lou DiPietro: The MiLBY Awards are underway. Per this series of fan-voted awards, the Yankees have the best farm system in all of baseball. Thanks to Brian Cashman’s wheeling and dealing at the trade deadline, the Yanks brought in the likes of Gleyber Torres, Clint Frazier, Justus Sheffield, and Dillon Tate to bolster the system. This is the first MiLBY award the Yankees won, but they are in the running for five more awards. Winners will be announced between today and the fourth.
Sports Illustrated | Ben Reiter: Alex Rodriguez is baseball media’s newest and biggest star. After a successful TV stint during last year’s World Series, Fox brought A-Rod back this year and for the first time ever he’s gotten universal acclaim. It’s good to see him get this sort of recognition, and definitely worth the read.
Fox Sports | Zack Pierce: 15 years ago yesterday, Derek Jeter earned himself a new nickname. Down 2-1 going into the eighth, Tino Martinez launch a bomb off Byung-Hyun Kim to tie the game. Then in the bottom of the 10th, the clock struck midnight to officially be the first World Series game ever played during the month of November during the first pitch of Jeter’s at-bat. Eight pitches later...Mr. November was born.
Today’s Knuckleball | Stacey Gotsulias: When Mark Teixeira struggled and battled injuries all season, it was expected that Greg Bird would be there to ease the transition. Unfortunately, he hurt himself before the season even started and was lost for the entire year. Now he’s back and playing in the Arizona Fall League with hopes of making up at-bats and working off some rust so he can come to spring training ready to compete. If all goes well, Bird should be manning first base as part of the Yankees’ youth movement for years to come. #GREGBIRD.

Song of the Day
Thriller by Michael Jackson
It’s Fright Week on Pinstripe Alley. It would be impossible and possibly even illegal to go through this week without using this song. Would it have made for an appropriate final song of the week? Maybe. Oh well! As always, please link us your song of the day.
