Around the Empire

Newsday | Anthony Rieber: Hal Steinbrenner, Yankees owner and renowned Yu-Gi-Oh duelist, has made his feelings on losing Andrew Miller and Aroldis Chapman well known. While it was the correct decision to trade them, he wants that powerful bullpen strength back. Now he is making his feelings known regarding wanting Chapman back in pinstripes. It’s going to cost him though, as Chapman has made his financial desires known. Perhaps they can settle this with a duel.

New York Daily News | Mark Feinsand: As mentioned before, this crop of free agent pitchers are the “potato bread” left in the bread aisle when a hurricane or blizzard comes around. With not much to be excited about, the Yankees might have to take the same approach with their starting rotation as they plan on taking with their lineup. Bring on the youth movement.

Baseball America | Staff Report: Baseball America recently put out a Top 10 Yankees’ prospect list. Now you can listen to them discuss said list in podcast form. Also, their thoughts on the newest MiLB team names. Still waiting on the Staten Island Yankees to choose a name that won’t be as good as Fire Frogs or Rumble Ponies.

MLB.com | Jonathan Mayo: The 2016 Rookie of the Year results were announced Monday and for some strange, silly reason, Gary Sanchez was not chosen. So much for historic numbers and all that. This article takes a look at potential 2017 Rookie of the Year candidates. Aaron Judge is on this list. That would be nice.
