Around the Empire

USA Today | Jorge L. Ortiz: Today is the day that the Rookie of the Year winner will be announced. The finalists are Michael Fulmer, Tyler Naquin, and the Yankees’ very own Gary Sanchez. He who is Gary had a historic, repeat historic, first two months of his major league career. Whether that’s enough to earn him the ROTY is anyone’s guess, but that he’s even being considered speaks volume.

MLB.com | Mike Petriello: Andrew Miller, the game enderer, was so very effective in the postseason. Andrew Miller, the starter, was not as effective before being placed in the reliever role. With what he accomplished, teams will undoubtedly be looking for someone to replicate that type of success. Michael Pineda might fit that role quite nicely if the Yankees rotation wasn’t so thin.

NJ.com | Brendan Kuty: While the current starting rotation might be a bit thin, there are some possible prospect to potential help with that in the future. One such pitching prospect is Chance Adams. Besides the obvious and fantastic punnability of his name, Chance dominated both High-A Tampa and Double-A Trenton. Eyes will definitely be on him in 2017.

NJ.com | Randy Miller: Finally, we take a look back at the AFL. Miguel Andujar is having himself a pretty good time in Arizona. Of course, the main star is Gleyber Torres. He is absolutely tearing it up in the AFL. It’s very promising to see. Check this to see how other Yankees and Mets prospects are faring in Arizona.

Song of the Day

Suzanne by Leonard Cohen

It’s Leonard Cohen Week on Pinstripe Alley. First of, I’d like to thank both Caitlin and Tyler for stepping up with the news while Shah and I were on vacation. Second, transitioning from last week’s theme to this week’s theme was pretty easy. This week we will be celebrating the music of the recently deceased Leonard Cohen. Please enjoy. As always, please link us your song of the day.
