Around the Empire
New York Post | Joel Sherman: Could a reunion with Boone Logan be in order? The Yankees and the Mets have reportedly both expressed interest in the lefty. He has spent the last three seasons with the Rockies, and struck out 57 batters through 46 innings in 2016.
NY Daily News | Mark Feinsand: After missing the majority of the season with an elbow injury, James Kaprielian is healthy and is currently pitching in the Arizona Fall League. He made his sixth start last night, and was charged with five runs over four and one-third innings. Kaprielian noted that he is still “dusting off some of the rust” and called his experiences over the 2016 season character-building.
NJ.com | Randy Miller: Rumor continue to circulate about the Yankees interest in trading Brian McCann. The Yankees are reportedly willing to eat half of the money left on McCann’s contract ($34 million total), but would want “multiple top young players” in return. Good luck with that.
New York Post | Dan Martin: Derek Jeter hasn’t seemed to pay much attention to the happenings in the world of baseball since his retirement. Although he says he would think about becoming more involved if the Yankees asked him to be a guest instructor or something, Jeter still says his goal is to be on the ownership side someday.
