Around the Empire
Yahoo Sports | Mark Townsend: Talking about David Ortiz lacing up for the last time, Pete Rose asked Alex Rodriguez about his future plans during the Fox Sports 1 postseason pregame. A-Rod didn’t say he was definitely going to play again, but he said to “stay tuned.”
New York Daily News | Mark Feinsand: Aroldis Chapman says he’s not focused on his impending free agency right now and his biggest focus is on getting the Cubs to the World Series and winning a ring. He did mention that he is still close with Dellin Betances and he believes that Betances’ late season struggles are nothing to worry about.
New York Post | Dan Martin: Brian Cashman said that though he hasn’t met Tim Tebow, the former Jets and Broncos quarterback could help the Yankees’ young prospects. With Greg Bird, Gleyber Torres, and James Kaprielian among those set to attend the Arizona Fall League and be Tebow’s teammates, Cashman says the youngsters could learn from Tebow. Supposedly Tebow has a lot of great leadership qualities that the prospects could learn from, but also from the tremendous amount of media following Tebow. Getting used to a media circus could be great for prospects to get accustomed to for their hopefully eventual call-up to New York.
New York Daily News | John Harper: Cashman, rightfully, admitted that the Yankees are just just one piece (say a #1 starter like Chris Sale) away from winning a championship. If they were, he would be more inclined to trade top prospects and make a run for a player like him. Since it would take more, he says he’s not inclined to make a move like that. Cashman is bracing fans that it might take another year or so of significant development for the Yankees to truly be contenders, but that’s okay as long as there is real progress.

Song of the Day
Suit & Tie by Justin Timberlake ft. Jay-Z
It’s Fashion Week on Pinstripe Alley. I’m not entirely sure what that means, but I’m sure there are enough songs about clothes out there. Basically, I just happened to be listening to this song and decided “Justin Timberlake Week” would have been too easy. As always, please link us your song of the day.
