Around the Empire

New York Daily News | Mark Feinsand: Mariano Rivera, Yankee legend and best reliever in the universe, was on hand at Wrigley Field to hand the 2016 Best Reliever Award to Baltimore’s closer, Zach Britton. While giving the Mo Award to Britton, Mo also offered praise and a vote of confidence for Dellin Betances. Gotta love Mo.

Newsday | Mark Carig: Reliever usage is the talk of the baseball after watching Terry Francona use Andrew Miller pretty much whenever he wants. It brings up the question of how Mo would do if he pitched nowadays. It also brings up the discussion of if this method of using relievers only good for the playoffs.

New York Post | Joel Sherman: Brian McCann has been on the minds of Yankee fans this offseason. Should they trade him or should they keep him? If the Yankees go with the former, one potential trade partner could be the Houston Astros, as McCann could help with their needs. We shall see.
