Around the Empire
NJ.com | Randy Miller: James Kaprielian is the Yankees best pitching prospect. He got injured, because of course he did. Never pitch. Now he’s back and pitching in the Arizona Fall League. Here, he talks about how he became a Yankees’ fan and what he hopes the future will hold.
LoHud Yankees Blog | Chad Jennings: The Yankees have a few questions going into the offseason. One of those questions is not “Who will be the Yankees’ starting catcher in 2017?” With Gary Sanchez pretty much locked into that role, the question is whether or not there’s a need to go into the season with three catchers on the roster.
LoHud Yankees Blog | Chad Jennings: Did I say three catchers on the roster? I meant four. Kyle Higashioka had an incredible season and he now finds himself on the 40-man roster. Higashioka could very well compete for a backup catcher’s spot during the spring. It will be interesting to see what the Yankees do since they have a decent amount of depth at that position.
NJ.com | Joe Giglio: Carlos Beltran’s quest for a ring sadly came to a halt at the hands of the Blue Jays. With the Rangers swept out of the playoffs, Beltran will be a free agent once again. There’s always a chance the Yankees’ re-sign Beltran, since the veteran says he has no plans to retire just yet. With the offensive numbers he put up this year, this is not surprising.
