Around the Empire

YES Network | A.J. Herrmann: Our long pinstriped nightmare is seemingly over with. Rejoice, dear Pinstripe Alley readers, for Greg Bird has officially been reinstated from the 60-day DL. The Word himself will be heading to the Arizona Fall League to participate and bring joy into our lives once again. If all goes well, he will be competing with Tyler Austin for the vacated job at first base. I, for one, really like his resume.

LoHud Yankees Blog | Chad Jennings: The Yankees continue making roster moves as Donovan Solano was outrighted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Solano will become a minor league free agent once the World Series is over with. This move, along with Bird being reinstated, is putting the 40-man roster more into focus. Of course, the offseason is still young.

Newsday | AP: Nick Swisher never made it up to the big leagues this year. However, he will be in Tampa for the week coaching the next generation. Yes. Nick Swisher as a coach. Drink it in, bro. It’s happening.

CBS New York | Sweeny Murti: Ten years ago yesterday was a very sad day as Yankees’ pitcher Cory Lidle tragically died in a plane crash. Sweeny met with Lidle’s wife and son a month ago. Nothing I say can do this story justice. Please give it a read. It is well worth your time.

It’s Fashion Week on Pinstripe Alley. The first verse of this song is pretty much all about the subject matter at hand. Seriously, you can potentially turn off the song after the first verse. Some of you might. As always, please link us your song of the day.
