Around the Empire
New York Daily News | Mark Feinsand: Masahiro Tanaka will not pitch again this season. Initially set to start against the Orioles today, Luis Severino will take the mound in his place. With his most recent injury, the Yankees decided it was not worth the risk to start him in a meaningless game. Before the set back, Tanaka was a Cy Young candidate. We’ll see how that turns out.
Newsday | Barbara Barker: There are only two more games of baseball left for the Yankees this season. This means that Mark Teixeira’s playing career will be over with after Sunday. What Teixeira decides to do afterwards is still up in the air. However, Teixeira is proud of the career he had. He should be.
New York Post | Kevin Kernan: Alex Rodriguez’s playing career came to an end in early August. Yesterday, the next part of his baseball career began as he reported to their minor league complex as an instructor. A-Rod had nothing but praise for the young crop of players in the Yankees’ system. The legend of Coach-Rod begins now.
New York Daily News | Anthony McCarron: As the season comes to a close, thoughts are now shifting towards the offseason. The Yankees have many questions that need to be answered. With the youth movement still underway, the Yankees might not need to make a big splash signing. They could use another pitcher or three though. We’ll see. Sigh.
Fun Questions
- Who or what should be the Yankees’ primary target this offseason?
- Seltzer. Yay or Nay?
Song of the Day
Jammin’ by Bob Marley
It’s Feel Good Week on Pinstripe Alley. There are few musicians who makes me feel quite as good as Bob Marley. This song has always been one of my favorites. As always, please link us your song of the day.
