There's not much baseball to talk about right now. After the New York Mets, our baseball cousins from Queens, re-signed Yoenis Cespedes to a three year deal, the baseball world has gone pretty silent in terms of rumors and speculation. A lot of teams are already set for the beginning of Spring Training. Odds are our beloved New York Yankees are one of those teams. Unless Brian Cashman has some secret trade in mind, they're probably just waiting for pitchers and catchers to report just like the rest of us. They cannot report soon enough.
In other sports news, the Super Bowl matchup has been decided. The Denver Broncos will face the Carolina Panthers in two weeks. Also, there will be new commercials, because that's a thing that happens during that game. While the Panthers game was a downright bludgeoning, the Broncos vs. the Patriots had the best finish possible. Seconds left to tie and a blown two-point conversion would season the NFL playoffs with the tears of Boston fans. As Yankee fans know, those tears are the best tears.Comments of the Day
No COTDs yesterday, sadly.
GIFVideo of the Day
According to IMDB, today is the 20th Anniversary of The Caddy, the Seinfeld episode which featured the famous "What the hell did you trade Jay Buhner for?" scene. Easily one of the most memorable scenes in the show's run.
Honorable Mod Mention
Jim Griffin wins the HMM for his piece on the first day of the 1996 season. After the blizzard NYC got this weekend, it was fun to look back at that day.
Fun Questions
- Rate eye colors, from best to worst.
- IHOP or Waffle House? Which is better?
Song of the Day
You Belong To The City by Glenn Frey
It's Glenn Frey week on Pinstripe Alley. Since Shah went with The Heat Is On yesterday, I decided to stick with another 80's song. It doesn't get much more 80's than a song featured in Miami Vice. As always, please link us your song of the day.
Feel free to use this as your open thread for the day. Who are you pulling for in the Super Bowl? Oh, and Happy PhelpsBuhner Day!
