The Baltimore Orioles had begun to get very tired of Chris Davis and his shenanigans. After making him a $150 million offer and having him say no to that and then just being unable to reach a deal with him, the O's moved on from Davis. It seems like there wasn't much of a market for Davis so the O's didn't feel the need to get in a bidding war with themselves, so they set their eyes on Yoenis Cespedes. To further drive that point him, the O's went and signed Chris Davis. Wait what? Yes so either it was all a negotiating tactic to get Davis to realize nobody else was interested in giving him the money he wants or we don't know the full story. And who knows? They might still be interested in Cespedes. Either way, Davis is back in Baltimore after signing a 7 year/$161 million deal. So those of you wanting him to play left field for the Yankees might have to set your sights elsewhere.
In former Yankees news, Ian Kennedy signed a 5 year/$70 million deal with the Kansas City Royals, and he'll reportedly have an opt-out after two years. Because opt-outs are the glue that hold every contract together. But if you're worried the Yankees are letting other teams make all the big moves and get ahead of them, don't worry because the Yankees made an extremely ground-breaking, blockbuster, championship securing move yesterday. They claimed OF Lane Adams. Boom.
