Baseball was slightly busy yesterday as the Marlins extended Dee Gordon on a very reasonable deal. He signed a five year deal for $50 million with a club option for the sixth year at $14 million. The second baseman is the reigning NL batting champion and is also coming off a season where he won both a Gold Glove and a Silver Slugger. Not a bad time for him to make some money. While this was happening on one side of the country, on the other side the contract details for Kenta Maeda's deal with the Dodgers were released.

On the surface that looks like a very team friendly deal for a pitcher of Maeda's supposed abilities, however with him coming from Japan and being an unknown along with the apparent elbow issues, this could still end up backfiring on the Dodgers. If he ends up being awful or his elbow blows out, the Dodgers will still be paying $24 million for nothing. Only time will tell if this is a good deal or not, and for whom, you Kenta judge a deal right away after all.

It's David Bowie week on PSA. Today's song comes from the movie The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. While the original Bowie song is a straight classic, I happen to really appreciate this version of it as well because it comes from this movie. When I first heard about Walter Mitty I thought it would be an okay movie, but after seeing it, it really opened my eyes to just go out and make the most out of life. Feel free to use this as your open thread. Apparently the Braves are showing some interest in Yoenis Cespedes. Because "strip the team and get rid of all our good pieces, now sign an expensive top tier free agent" is totally a smart off season plan. Granted Cespedes may not be as expensive as once thought, he still makes no sense for Atlanta.
