Save for a couple of games here and there, Yankees pitchers have had minimal room for error on the mound over the last couple of weeks. Michael Pineda takes the hill today hoping the Yankees' bats can give him something to work with, so that he can relax a bit and hopefully get an easy win.
Realistically, because the Blue Jays won last night and now hold a five-game lead on the Yanks, I think the divisional race is over. However, the Yankees' magic number stands at three for the Wild Card, so they really don't need much to secure that spot. It's better to sneak into the playoffs than to be left out, and so let's keep our heads high.
The Red Sox will send Rick Porcello to the hill. Porcello struggled early this season, but has been better of late, including his 13-strikeout performance in his last start against the Yanks on September 1. Hopefully, the Yankees can just win, and get one game closer to clinching that Wild Card.
First pitch from Yankee Stadium will be at 7:05pm, and you can watch it on YES and listen to it on WFAN (660 AM or 101.9 FM), or Radio WADO (1280 AM) for you Spanish speakers.
