Luis Severino is pretty good at pitching. Yesterday, his fantastic efforts helped the Yankees to victory, taking this four game series from the White Sox. With yesterday's win, the magic number for a pinstriped postseason berth is now at Babe Ruth. We will see down the line whom the Yankees will potentially be facing in that one game elimination match. Unless, of course, the Blue Jays decide to stop winning for a week for shits and giggles. That'd be something.
Tonight begins the final home series of the regular season. The Yankees will go head to head with the Red Sox in a four game series. With a win tonight, the Bronx Bombers could not only drop the magic number down to Derek Jeter, but they could effectively eliminate the Red Sox from Wild Card contention. I suppose that is petty of us, but it is Boston after all. Not only that, but the Yankees would notch their franchise's 10,000th win. It would only be fitting to get it against the Red Sox, wouldn't it?
Comments of the Day
Hey, walking Brendan Ryan was technically an even bolder strategy.
Easy but effective.
I really like Luis Severino.
I'm also beginning to like Dustin Ackley.
I'm not quite sure how I feel about Dustin Quackley though. Especially since he's not dressed up like Launchpad McQuAckley!
Greg Bird, ladies and gentlemen.
Ouch.
GIF of the Day
Rico Noel is very suave!

Honorable Mod Mention
Nikhil gets the HMM for his nice article about Adam Warren.

Song of the Day
Autumn In New York by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong
It's Autumn Week on Pinstripe Alley. A classic song, performed from Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. This is a song I absolutely love, which has been performed by multiple artists over the years. As always, please link us your song of the day.
Feel free to use this as your open thread for the day. Ivan Nova will take the mound tonight in game one of this four game series. Nova was put back into the starting rotation after Tanaka's unfortunate setback and he excelled against the Blue Jays. Hopefully he has a repeat performance against the Red Sox.
