Yesterday was a pretty good day for the merry ol' land of pinstripes. The Yankees defeated the White Sox 3-2 and the Minnesota Twins lost, bringing the magic number to clinch a playoff berth down to five. Those three runs came via a Carlos Beltran dinger. We have joked almost all year long about Beltran being the walking dead, due to his obvious lack of defensive range in right field. The hope was always that his offensive would make up for his lack of defense. As the regular season comes to a close, that hope has been displayed.
Since May 1, Beltran is hitting .302 with 18 HRs, 56 RBI and .510 slugging percentage. Those are some gaudy numbers. Professional hitter.

Yeah, it is painful to watch him field at times. The important thing is that it's no longer painful to watch him bat. It makes one wonder just how bad that injury was last year, and what 2014 could have been if Beltran didn't succumb to the evil cesspool that is Tropicana Field. Yes, I blame that place for Beltran's lack of offense last year.

Song of the Day
The Rover - Achilles Last Stand - The Song Remains The Same by Dream Theater
It's Cover Songs Week on Pinstripe Alley. Today's cover song comes from Dream Theater, who covers these songs from Led Zeppelin. Darth Mahbles had actually posted what today's song was going to be in yesterday's COTD thread, using some kind of Jedi Mind Trick BS! As always, please link us your song of the day.
Feel free to use this as your open thread for the day. CC Sabathia and his new, heavenly knee brace will take the mound in game two of this four games series. Just keep winning, Yankees.
