The photo I used for today's COTD thread perfect displays what a frustrating game it was for the Yankees. They hit line drive outs for a good portion of the night, yet a little bloop fly from J.P. Arencibia scored two runs for the Rays in the bottom of the 8th. Rico Noel gave it his all but just couldn't come up with the catch. Baseball giveth and baseball taketh away I suppose, but it really would have been a nice game to win with the Blue Jays losing to the Braves. Yes, those Braves. The very same Atlanta Braves we swept and scored a combined thirty eight runs off of held the Blue Jays to two runs and five hits. Baseball just doesn't make any sense. In any case, it should be an exciting pitching duel today as Chris Archer faces off against Luis Severino. The Yankees managed to beat Archer in the Bronx the last time they faced him. Please do that again in our last game at Tropicana Dump this year.
Comments of the Day
People do realize that Joe Girardi's answer about Rob Refsnyder was essentially polite speak for "He's not very good right now" right?
Sigh. I guess not.
It has been Set in stone. Greg Bird is the word.
Well done.
Oof.
This made the night so much better. Although, it could be a trap!
GIF of the Day
Defeat!
Honorable Mod Mention
All the mods that were in the game thread last night. They didn't break out the ban hammer. Good restraint, although some regular members might see this as being dishonorable.
Fun Questions
- What would you name the next stadium the Rays, or whatever team they might turn into, play in?
- Juice power rankings. Name your top three juices!
Song of the Day
You're the Best Around by Joe Esposito
It's Comeback Week on Pinstripe Alley. You know, crane kicking the Trop out of existence would have been a great answer for yesterday's fun question. As always, please link us your song of the day.
Feel free to use this as your open thread for the day. Luis Severino's last outing was his worst of the year. Here's hoping that he can bounce back today against the Rays.
go yankees go baseball you gotta hang tough to make it
