PSA Comments of the Day 7/12/15: Last game before the break

New, 6 comments

The Yankees and Red Sox will close out this three game series this afternoon, as well as close out the first half of the 2015 regular season. And yes, you read that correctly. This afternoon. As in, not at 8PM on ESPN.

Yesterday's game was not as much fun as Friday's game. Sure, Ivan Nova pitched a decent game and Rob Refsnyder played some pretty good defense, but a somewhat lack of offense and a questionable outing by the bullpen sealed the Yankees' fate last night. It happens. The Yankees will face the Red Sox this afternoon in the rubber game of this three game series. That's right, this afternoon. As in 1:30PM. As in, today's game between the Yankees and Red Sox is thankfully and mercifully not the ESPN Sunday Night Baseball game. That honor is bestowed on the Cardinals and Pirates tonight. Good luck to their fans.

Today's game will close out the first half of the 2015 regular season. Whether or not the Yankees win today, they will finish the first half of the season in first place in the AL East, which not a lot of people predicted them to do. Despite a few setbacks here and there, the Yankees plan of hoping for bounce back years from the heart of their lineup is working. Both Mark Teixeira and Alex Rodriguez are candidates for the comeback player of the year award, as they are hitting home runs and driving in runs. There is a reason the Yankees have scored the most first inning runs in the majors, and they are it. Brian McCann has also come alive with his bat. Jacoby Ellsbury and Brett Gardner have done nothing but excel at the top of the order. Didi Gregorius got off to a slow, rocky, sometimes cringe worthy start to his Yankee career. Lately though, both his bat and his glove have come alive. The team still needs a bit of fine tuning, but with no strong contender in the AL East this year there is no reason why the Bronx Bombers cannot bring the playoffs back to the Bronx.

Comments of the Day

But we'll try the best that we can to carry on!

Corey Black says hi.

I get it!

This came about because Refsnyder chose to wear #64. This site is weird.

Classic LTL right here.

I'm out!

At some point, FOX has to realize that Harold Reynolds is trending on Twitter for all the wrong reasons. Right?

Sadistic Joe is at it again.

All Sadistic Joe's fault, really.

Brett Gardner is the best. Never forget that.

Open your mind.

GIF of the Day

What a weird site. What a great game. Goldeneye, I mean. Not last night's Yankee game.

Honorable Mod Mention

Nikhil wins the HMM award for having to type out the words Jeff Samardzija a lot yesterday.

Song of the Day

Come Sail Away by STYX

I have not thought of a theme week for this week, so we might just go with cheesy, classic rock. This song is inspired by kshah's COTD regarding Brady Lail. As always, please link us your song of the day.

Feel free to use this as your open thread for the day. Nathan Eovaldi will get the final start of the first half today. His last four starts have been pretty good, so here's hoping he can keep it up. Taking this series from the Red Sox would be an excellent end to the first half.
