Ivan Nova takes to the hill for the fourth time since returning from Tommy John surgery, as the first place Yankees take on the last place Red Sox. When a guy is coming back after such a long layoff, especially as his arm strength continues to build, you're going to get some inconsistency (especially from a guy who has been somewhat inconsistent throughout his career to begin with). Let's just hope Nova has a good day today. The other big bit of news is that the Yankees have called up Robert Refsnyder to make his major league debut. I guess the Yankees could no longer deny his .290 batting average, nor Drew's .181 clip. I'm looking forward to seeing what the kid can do.
The Sox are countering with rookie sensation Eduardo Rodriguez, who is 4-2 with a 3.69 ERA (3.12 FIP) in 8 starts since being called up. He has shown good control, only walking 15 in 46.1 innings, and some good put-away abilities with 44 strikeouts. Here's hoping the Yankees knock him around a bit in his Bronx debut.
The game is at 7:15 PM, and you can watch it on FOX, or listen to John and Suzyn on WFAN. For you Spanish speakers, there's also Radio WADO. Here are the lineups, I'll be back later with a recap.
