The 2015 MLB Draft starts on Monday which means that the time for speculating is just about over. We've worked hard to provide you with comprehensive coverage leading into the draft, and now it's your turn to decide who you think the Yankees should pick. The Yankees didn't draft until the second round last year, but they have quite a few early picks this year, starting with the overall 16th pick in the first round. Here are some resources that you can use to decide who you want the Yankees to draft:
Of course, every site ranks the prospects in a different order, so it's hard to say who might be on the board still when the Yankees turn does come up. Yesterday, Provenzano took the weighted average of the last four major mock drafts and based on the results of that, the Yankees could possibly end up with right-handed pitcher Walker Buehler out of Vanderbilt, and Richie Martin, a shortstop out of Florida. There is also the possibility that the Yankees could end up with an injured player, as there are several injured pitchers likely to fall in the first round, and that could shuffle up the predicted outcome.
Given the unpredictable nature of the draft, questions as to whether players will sign at all, and the improbability of them making it to the big leagues, we here at Pinstripe Alley always like to see the team choose some players with interesting and/or punnable names. Notable options from MLB.com's top 200 include: Kyle Funkhouser (RHP), Skye Bolt (OF), Nic Enright (RHP) and Max Schrock (2B).
