The Yankees lost last night. They also lost the night before that. They have also lost seven of their last eight. It's not good, but I also wouldn't say they are in #DOOMED territory just yet. Slumps happen, and about four of those losses were incredibly close, essentially coin flip type affairs. That works out over a full season.
The team will now start a six game home trip, and they'll take on both the Rangers and Royals. The Rangers are pretty bad and the Royals are pretty good, so naturally the Yankees will get swept by the Rangers and they'll sweep the Royals (I'm half joking).
Anyway, let's enjoy the off day. Greg is also enjoying his COTD off day too, as he went to see the Yankees lose at Nationals Park. Let's get to it.
Comments of the Day
Not a start, but we'll take the pinch running situation!
Some more excellent "Go Notes" from Go Win.
Seriously, we are all rooting for Slade to succeed.
This Twitter user was certainly channeling LTL's pun abilities right there.
Pretty much, yeah.
My only reaction to the festivities in last night's game thread:
He's got jokes!
Bill Murray is a NBA Hall of Famer. All he needed was Michael's Secret Stuff.
GIF of the Day
This is how I feel, on so many levels.
Honorable Mod Mention
The HMM goes to Matt F., who filled the game thread with snarky comments and puns. We needed it, to say the least.
Fun Questions
- If you could see any band/musician live (dead or alive), who would it be and why?
- What is the most interesting piece of baseball memorabilia that you own?
Song of the Day
This Charming Man - The Smiths
I don't know about you, but I think that The Smiths is apropos on any day.
There's no Yankees game tonight, so this is your open thread for the day. Fill it up with banter, GIF's, and a pinch of optimism!
