Happy Mother's Day, everybody, I'm going to...
Wait, what? I have to write a game thread? It's been a while, go easy on me Pinstripe Alley.
The Yankees send their ace, Michael Pineda, out to face Bud Norris. Norris is the Orioles' anti-ace, and he comes into today's game sporting an ERA just a smidge under ten with nearly two baserunners per inning. Which, of course, makes him the lock of the day to shut down the Yankees offense by pitching around the heart of the order each inning and then striking out Stephen Drew, Sir Didi and Carlos Beltran.
Meanwhile, the Yankees hope to avoid leaving twenty runners on base this game, and not in the bad way either. I'm not rooting for a no-hitter, understand me, I want those baserunners driven in. Not like last game.
The Yankees are two games up on the Rays for first in the division, and 5.5 games up on the last place Boston Red Sox.
Happy Mother's Day. Go Yankees, go baseball.
