For the first time in a few seasons, I am genuinely excited for the first Subway Series clash of the season. First of all, the Yankees seem to have completely turned things around after their bad start. They swept the Rays in Tampa–a place where they have really struggled over the past couple of season–and then went to Detroit and took three out of four from one of the best teams in the American League (it could have even been a sweep, as the loss was a squeaker). The Mets, meanwhile, have won eleven games in a row, so there's not much left to say about how they're doing.
Both of these teams seem to be clicking on all cylinders, and I know both are motivated to show they're the best in the city. The Yankees have been the best for a while, but have fallen on hard times, and the Mets look like the little brother ready to finally take one from their older siblings. Tonight, the Yankees will send Michael Pineda to the hill to face Jacob deGrom in a battle of young stud pitchers, so it should be an exciting one.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM, with the game being broadcast on YES. You can always listen to John and Suzyn on WFAN, and you spanish speakers can tune in on WADO.
