Michael Pineda is coming off a strong first start against the Blue Jays last week, and the Yankee lineup found some life yesterday against the Red Sox. Both will look to carry their positive momentum out to start the first road series of the season, facing the Baltimore Orioles and Wei-Yin Chen at Camden Yards.
Chase Headley gets his first day off this season, and Alex Rodriguez plays third for the first time since 2013. Chris Young takes Headley's open lineup spot as Carlos Beltran gets a break from playing the field. Gregorio Petit comes in for Stephen Drew against left-hander Chen, as Girardi continues to run a platoon at second base.
There remains a revolving door for the final spot in the bullpen as the Yankees made their third pitching change in as many days, promoting Joel De La Cruz from Double-A Trenton, designating Kyle Davies for assignment after using him for 2.1 innings yesterday.
The game will be broadcast on WPIX and ESPN networks, and so won't be covered on YES.
Go Yankees.
