March has been mostly a quiet month for the Yankees as they've played out the Grapefruit League season and thankfully have not suffered any disasters, as they did in 2013 when both Mark Teixeira and Curtis Granderson were lost to injuries in camp. The only major injury of note was Chris Capuano suffering a quad strain, and if the worst of spring training is losing your fifth starter, then you're doing pretty well. Thus, Cashman has not had to make any late emergency deals, so that's good.
After notching a 72% approval rating from the January poll, Cashman slipped to 59% in February, a justified-or-not byproduct of the Yankees missing out on top Cuban prospect Yoan Moncada and starter James Shields. A healthy month of camp from the majority of the team might help improve those ratings, but it is up to you to decide. This is how the roster tentatively looks as we wind down until Opening Day:
C: Brian McCann, Austin Romine/John Ryan Murphy
1B: Mark Teixeira, Garrett Jones
2B: Stephen Drew
SS: Didi Gregorius, Brendan Ryan
3B: Chase Headley
LF: Brett Gardner
CF: Jacoby Ellsbury
RF: Carlos Beltran, Chris Young
DH: Alex Rodriguez
SP: Masahiro Tanaka, Michael Pineda, CC Sabathia, Nathan Eovaldi, Adam Warren
RP: Dellin Betances, Andrew Miller, David Carpenter, Justin Wilson, Esmil Rogers, Chasen Shreve, Chase Whitley
So what do you think of the group Cashman has almost ready to go for Opening Day? Vote in the poll, and we'll revisit the results at the end of the season's first month. It's just around the corner.
