PSA Comments of the Day 12/5/15: Raising Arizona

Zack Greinke is not coming to the Yankees. If only Kevin Towers was still there, we might still have a chance.

Rotten Tomatoes describes the movie Raising Arizona as " A terrifically original, eccentric screwball comedy." That description also accurately describes yesterday's Hot Stove. In what is the hottest and most out of nowhere move of the offseason, the Arizona Diamondbacks shocked the baseball world by acquiring Zack Greinke. The D'Backs, in addition of eight new uniforms to choose from, will give Greinke a six year, $206.5 million dollar contract. Last season, the D'Backs pitching was less than stellar. They are hoping that the addition of Greinke will compliment their young, decent lineup. Or maybe this was Paul Goldschmidt's reward for having to model those new uniforms.

With Greinke heading to Arizona and David Price bound for Boston, the two biggest free agent pitchers are now off the market. Johnny Cueto has now moved up the ranks to being the #1 free agent pitcher available. The Dodgers and Giants, who were rumored to want Greinke's services, may try for Cueto before the Winter Meetings begin. Speaking of moving up the ranks, the Yankees now moved up a draft slot with the D'Backs losing their 13th pick. Even though they've crushed my dream of Greinke in pinstripes, thanks for that at least.

Comments of the Day

The Yankees signed Pete Kozma to a minor league deal. LTL responded with the appropriate pun.

And Matt F responded with the appropriate Dave Dombrowski text.

Shrewd move, D'Backs.

GIF of the Day

Exactly, Korra. Exactly.

Honorable Mod Mention

Matt F wins for his COTD above, and for noticing that the Fun Questions category was the HMM for some strange reason.

Fun Questions

  • If you were Brian Cashman, would you have offered Greinke the same deal?
  • Where do you think Johnny Cueto ends up now?

Song of the Day

Chariots of Fire Theme by Vangelis

It's Fire week on Pinstripe Alley. What better way to end this week than with Vangelis' famous composition. For the record, you are required to run in slow motion when this song is playing. As always, please link us your song of the day.

Feel free to use this as your open thread for the day. The Winter Meetings begin tomorrow. Perhaps do something, Yankees?
