PSA Comments of the Day 12/31/15: New Year's Eve Open Thread

Today it is 2015. Tomorrow it will be 2016. Some might call it a new year

Another one of the big free agents comes off the market as Scott Kazmir has agreed to a 3 year/$48 million contract with the Dodgers. The contract itself isn't a horrible one, especially not for one of Kazmir's abilities, but it's still funny to me that the Dodgers, who have so much money, chose not to spend money Zack Greinke. Yes, I realize the two contracts are vastly different, but still I don't understand them. The funny thing about this Kazmir contract though, is that he has an opt-out after just one year! These are getting ridiculous now, the next will be an opt-out one month after you sign the contract. Also free agent reliever, Alex Torres, signed a minor league deal with the Braves yesterday. Torres, while not necessarily a flashy signing, will at least bring his hat to Atlanta.

Anyway, with Kazmir off the market along with most of the big name pitchers, this is probably the time for Wei-Yin Chen's market to finally open as the rest of the free agent pitchers were probably weighin' him down. With that pun, I bid you adieu, 2015.

Comments of the Day

Let's not even joke about him coming back.

But he still won't hit Drew-hundred.

Jefferson: should we include "Nix" in the Yankee legend section?
Hancock: Nix

Remember that time the Yankees gave Stephen Drew money to play baseball?

Honorable Mod Mention

Greg and Andrew win today's HMM. While Greg discussed some lessons we learned as a result of the Aroldis Chapman trade, Andrew used this image in his morning news post.

Fun Questions

  • How do you plan to ring in the New Year?
  • Do you have any New Year's resolutions? What are they?

Song of the Day

Lost Stars by Adam Levine

It's New Year/Beginnings week on Pinstripe Alley. Today's song comes courtesy of the Mark Ruffalo/Kiera Knightley film, Begin Again. I assume you gather the connection now. By the way, if you haven't seen the movie, I suggest giving it a watch. It's pretty wonderful. I'm actually pretty upset it took me this long to get to songs from this movie. As always, please link us your song of the day.

Feel free to use this as your open thread for the day. Peace out, 2015! We'll say hello...from the other side.
