New, comments

There'll be cash when you are done. Get to Wrigley Field and rest. On the Cards no more.

Jason Heyward has yet to sign with a team. The Cubs, the Cardinals, and the Nationals are the ones supposedly making the hardest push to sign the young outfielder.

We have a winner, ladies and gentlemen. The Chicago Cubs will sign Jason Heyward to a supposed eight year, $184 million dollar contract. This contract apparently comes with two potential opt-out clauses around the third or fourth year of his tenure. Between the acquisition of Heyward and the recent signing of Zobrist, the Cubs are going all in this season. It makes sense really. The Cubbies finished third place in the NL Central, but they were still the second wildcard team by far. The NL Central was the most competitive division to the end. If not for the Mets, they might have fulfilled their 1.21 gigawatt destiny this year.

Needless to say, Cardinals fans did not take the news well at all. Rumor has it that the Cardinals have set their sights on Alex Gordon, fresh off his World Series victory with the Royals. Heyward's signing could mean that Justin Upton and Yoenis Cespedes will both soon have a baseball home. The Yankees will most likely not sign either one of them, but our baseball cousins from Queens might. Cespedes was an instant hit on the Mets. With Zobrist now on the Cubs and Michael Cuddyer's sudden retirement, it's possible that they use that money to sign Cespedes or Upton. These are the Wilpons though, so you never know.

Comments of the Day

The Yankees have had little trouble building a bullpen the past few seasons. I'm not that concerned.

GIF of the Day

Michelangelo is normally a party dude, but even he was stunned by some of the comments yesterday.

Honorable Mod Mention

Josh wins for his look into how the bullpen will be affected by the loss of Justin Wilson
