Today is Friday the 13th. There are many things you could do to celebrate this day. Like sports info junkies, you could sit at your computers, look at Twitter, and hope that Brian Cashman and the Yankees make some kind of weird free agent signing or trade. It would definitely be the day for weirdness. Perhaps you're thinking about watching Jason X because Jason Voorhees killing people in the future, in space, will never not be entertaining to you. Again, multiple options are available to you.
Unlike the full day adventure that was Wednesday, the Yankees did not make any moves yesterday. It was nice of them to give the bloggers a bit of a break. Brian McCann did win a Silver Slugger award though, so hooray for him. In terms of trades, some AL West teams definitely shook things up a bit. The Mariners traded a couple minor league players to the Padres in order to acquire Joaquin Benoit. After the utter collapse of Fernando Rodney as their closer, the M's really Joa-Quin* on adding a quality reliever to their bullpen.
Meanwhile, the Braves traded away Andrelton Simmons and a minor league catcher to the Angels. In return, they got Erick Aybar and two prized pitchers, Sean Newcomb and Chris Ellis, from the Angels minor league system. The Yankees should avoid hitting the baseball anywhere near the shortstop position when they face the Angels. It is rumored that the Yankees wanted Simmons last year and that they were potentially willing to part with Luis Severino for him. I don't know about you, but I'm quite happy with only giving up Shane Greene to get Didi Gregorius.Comments of the Day

It's Frank Sinatra week on Pinstripe Alley. There have been many different versions of this song. A version was used in the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, as well as a video game called Bayonetta.
