PSA Comments of the Day 10/5/15: The Yankees Beyond Thunderdome

The Yankees will face the Astros in the Wild Card elimination game tomorrow. Two teams enter. One team leaves.

Technically, being in the playoffs is what you want.

Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

Our teeth and ambitions might very well be bared, but I'm not quite sure how prepared we are, as fans, to watch this game on Tuesday. In every previous postseason game the Yankees have played before tomorrow, it has been a series in which the Yankees can afford to lose one game, then come back the next game and attempt to do better. You know, the very essence of baseball. Tomorrow, when the Yankees and Astros play each other, they will not be playing by normal baseball standards. Tuesday will be a new experience for them and most definitely for us. Tomorrow is Thunderdome. Two teams enter. One team leaves. We will definitely need another hero before tomorrow is over. More importantly, we need Masahiro Tanaka to out pitch Dallas Keuchel, a pitcher whom the Yankees have yet to score a run off of this year. We will be in the Bronx and Keuchel will be on three days rest. Let's get it done.

Comments of the Day

Thanks, Diamondbacks. If you speak to Kevin Towers, tell him that we miss him!

Pretty much this. The goal of the regular season is to make it past the regular season. The Yankees have done that. Time to see how far they can go.

It would be nice, yes.

Honorable Mod Mention

Tanya once again wins the HMM for her heartfelt piece yesterday, reminding us that there are people on the other sides of these posts, comments, and articles.

Fun Questions

  • You're the manager for tomorrow's game against Keuchel. What does your lineup card look like?
  • The current Wild Card system. Love it or hate it?

Song of the Day

Night Fever by The Bee Gees

It's World Series Top 5 Billboard week on Pinstripe Alley, the week that honors the Yankees past 7 World Series teams. Today's song was #2 on the Billboard Charts in 1978, and is an overall fantastic song. As always, please link us your song of the day.

Feel free to use this as your open thread for the day. It is the calm before the storm. One day for the Yankees and their fans to prepare for tomorrow.
