New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles - Brandon McCarthy vs. Ubaldo Jimenez

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

The Yankees are not mathematically dead yet. Their season may be on life support, but the plug hasn't been taken out of the wall just yet. A great number of things would have to happen for them to make the playoffs, but believing in this team to get there when they have blown so many chances this season will likely end in disappointment. That being said, Michael Pineda was great last night and Brandon McCarthy has been pretty great since putting on pinstripes. The Yankees' elimination number for the wild card is three, which means they cannot be eliminated tonight. All they can control is whether or not they win. Let's do that.
