Game 51: New York Yankees at St. Louis Cardinals, Phelps vs. Lynn

Maybe the Yankees will score some early runs today.

Jonathan Daniel

Back in 2012, while the Giants' anemic offense was limping towards a World Series championship, one of their announcers would end every broadcast by saying something along the lines of "excruciating." I can't find it exactly, so maybe a brilliant reader will remember what I'm talking about and back me up.

The point is, that's what I think about as the Yankees grind out these late comebacks and extra innings wins and losses.

It's thrilling baseball. It's must-see. But it's exhausting.

How about some early runs tonight for David Phelps? How about an early shower for Lance Lynn?

Maybe the Yankees would do that for me, as a change of pace.

Go Yankees. Go baseball.
