Game 50: New York Yankees at St. Louis Cardinals, Whitley vs. Wacha

Happy Memorial Day!

I think we can agree that these Yankees are not a great team. But they straddle the line between good and very good.

The current road trip has brought them to 1 loss back of the lead in the (unsurprisingly) super-competitive AL East.

Today, the Yankees start a three game set against the NL Pennant winners, a team that has been to the NLCS for 3 straight seasons. Tonight, in shades of World Series past, the Yankees get to measure themselves against a great team.

So we send substitute starter Chase Whitley out against 22-year-old sensation Michael Wacha. So far, Wacha's sophomore season has been just as brilliant as his 2013 debut.

Go Yankees. Go baseball.
