Game 8: Baltimore Orioles at New York Yankees, Chen vs Nova

Day game! Orioles at Yankees!

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Yesterday, the focus was on Derek Jeter. Today, the focus goes back to the Yankees' pitching.

Can Ivan Nova put together a run of good starts? Whether you think of him as the #3 or #4, a solid outing from Nova makes the rotation deep.

How will Joe Girardi array the bullpen with David Robertson on the disabled list? In spring training, we talked about the Yankees embarrassment of riches in the pen, that the team brought a dozen relievers to camp, and if everyone stayed healthy there was only one or two spots to win. Another spot is available, at least for a few weeks.

I live in O's country, so I have to say I enjoy seeing them in last place in the AL East, even if it is still very early. If that's going to change, it'll start with Wei-Yin Chen's health. An oblique injury limited him to 23 starts last season. He's a fly ball pitcher, and the walls aren't too distant in the Bronx.

It's going to be an exciting afternoon.
