Game 4: New York Yankees at Toronto Blue Jays - Tanaka's big league debut

Yankees at Jays, Tanaka vs McGoawn

Bob Levey

The team got off snide last night, but we're still waiting for a few Yankees to notch some important season firsts.

Ellsbury and Soriano still need their first hit. The entire team is still waiting for their first homerun of the season; the first triple is still up for grabs, but that's less certain.

Last night, Ivan Nova recorded the season's first HBP. Here's hoping for better control from #4 starter Masahiro Tanaka.

Tonight's going to be about Tanaka in the Yankee media, but I'm excited for the Jays' Dustin McGowan, too. He makes his first start in over 2 years, as the 32-year-old battles his way from a 2010 shoulder surgery; he hopes to join Michael Pineda among MLB pitchers to come back from labrum injuries, and to avoid the sort of related injuries (oblique) that cost him MLB time last season.
