Game 11: Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees - Lester vs Sabathia

Rivals match aces for the second game of the weekend set

Jim McIsaac

CC Sabathia's given up 3 home runs in 2 starts, and he hasn't pitched at Yankee Stadium yet. His ERA sits at 7.50, while his fastball is averaging 89.7 and not fooling anyone. The Red Sox are starting 2 time champion Jon Lester, pitting his 2.50 ERA and his 94 mph fastball against a Yankee lineup that has plenty of holes.

TEH DOOMZ!!!

Told from the other side of the story, Sabathia has had bad luck on the homerun ball (30% of all his flyballs have left the yard, compared to 13% in 2013 and 12.5% in 2012), and his defense hasn't helped him much either; his xFIP would set a career best (xFIP is a calculation of how well he does the things he can control, strike outs, walks, and assuming a league average home run rate because of how wildly HR rates fluctuate).

Da hope!

It's Yankees-Red Sox, anything can happen and usually does.
