I'm finding it difficult to pretend like this team has a chance at the playoffs even if math hasn't eliminated them from contention yet. Should you have less of a difficult time convincing yourself that the Yankees can still play October baseball, the Orioles are playing a game with the Rays as I type this. In the top of the seventh the O's are up 4-2, which is good for the Yankees if the score holds. The Astros play the Rangers tonight, so you'll be rooting for the Astros to play spoiler for their in-state rival. The Royals play the Mariners, so root for the Mariners. The Indians have today off.
If you're over this disappointing season, Monday Night Football between the Denver Broncos and Oakland Raiders will be on tap. If you have any other ideas for distracting yourself from this final stretch of baseball in a season that has been a nightmare, please share it with the rest of us. Group effort, guys.
The staff and I are also working on our offseason plan to keep this place popping during the long winter. Is there a post you'd like to see us tackle? Maybe something that might be too time consuming for mid-season but can be done over the offseason? We're all ears. We want to make this the best place to get Yankees news, analysis, and commentary 365 days a year and we certainly won't be taking any time off, so let us know what you'd like to see.
Questions:
1. What is your favorite piece of Yankees memorabilia you can see from where you sit? If you can't see anything from where you sit 1. why not? and 2. you can give your favorite piece in general instead.
2. Who is the number one free agent you'd like to see the Yankees sign this offseason?
3. What was your favorite moment from this season?
4. Least favorite moment from this season?
5. Gut feeling: do the Yankees contend in 2014?
