It was extremely close, but last week's GIF of the Week went to Mariano Rivera 's tip of the cap to the Citi Field crowd at his final All-Star Game. Here are the contenders from the first week of Yankees baseball after the All-Star Game:
7/20: Stew is pumped
Thanks to a terrific catch and a heads-up throw to second to nail a mysteriously running Daniel Nava, Chris Stewart completed a huge double play in Saturday's 5-3 victory over the Red Sox.
7/23: Nunez ties it, but lacks grace
Eduardo Nunez hit a much-indeed game-tying triple in the ninth inning on Tuesday, beating Joe Nathan with a drive to center. He had an outside chance at an inside-the-parker, but this stumble forced him to stay with a triple. No helmet, of course.
7/24: Garza can pitch, not field
New Ranger Matt Garza handled the Yankees quite well on the mound Wednesday, but not with his glove. His error here let Brett Gardner move all the way to third and score the Yankees' only run.
