The Yankees and Red Sox play the Fox afternoon game today, so get excited for McBuck, I suppose. Here's the lineup:
Gardner 8, Suzuki 9, Cano 4, Overbay 3, Wells 7, Hafner Dh, Nunez 6, Stewart 2, Cruz 5, Kuroda 1 #yankees

Joe Girardi is trying Lyle Overbay at cleanup today with the righty John Lackey on the mound for Boston. It makes sense; Overbay has a .483 slugging percentage and a 121 wRC+ against righties this year and Travis Hafner just looks horrible at the plate lately. That still doesn't quite excuse putting the corpse of Vernon Wells fifth in the lineup against a righty pitcher but such is life.
Zoilo Almonte was officially placed on the 15-day DL and utilityman Alberto Gonzalez was designated for assignment to make room for Melky Mesa and Thomas Neal on the roster (Neal will be the DH against lefties, according to Girardi). Mesa will wear #60 and Neal will wear #40, and they'll both be rockin' the bench today with Austin Romine and Brent Lillibridge. Fearsome.
Red Sox manager John Farrell, who might not have Clay Bucchholz for the rest of the season since he's visiting Dr. Andrews, will start Ryan Dempster tomorrow night against CC Sabathia, not Jon Lester, who is sitting due to "general wear and tear." Even though Lester has been mediocre this year after a hot start, it will be much better for this Yankees lineup to avoid the southpaw. Mariano Rivera rewarded the Red Sox for this by visiting some employees and fans this morning.
The Yankees' plan for their upcoming series in Texas is to start Ivan Nova on Monday against Yu Darvish and Phil Hughes on Tuesday against Alexi Ogando.
